We're Not Slowing Down This Summer!

Typically things slow down during the summer for churches. Yes, people are out of town more and their routines are less consistent. We are no exception to that. However, even with all the inconsistency that summer brings, we've seen God do some amazing things over the last few weeks, and we're anticipating even greater things to happen over the next month. Hopefully this recap will encourage you as you begin your week!
-We've seen 3 people take their next step of baptism this summer!

-Many people over the last few weeks have taken the step to go from attending our worship gatherings to connecting with others on a volunteer team or serving through Overflow Thursdays!

-The number of volunteers in Overflow Kids has more than doubled in the last month! This means we'll be able to continue to grow our kids ministry and better honor all of our volunteers.

-Dozens of people have committed to become ministry partners with The Overflow.

-We announced our new partnership with Dogwood Elementary, which will be the new location for our worship gatherings beginning August 21st. We're really excited about the different atmosphere we'll be able to create at Dogwood each Sunday and the unique opportunities we'll have to connect with the school and community.

-Over the next month, we'll be engaging the community in various ways on Thursday nights with the primary purpose of getting to know people. We're making conversation and relationship-building our intentional focus over the invitation to our worship gatherings.

-On Saturday, August 13th, we're partnering with Dogwood Elementary to provide a Back-to-School event. We'll be giving school supplies to 500kids, and providing at least one student in each grade with the ultimate back-to-school backpack, which will be loaded with new shoes, clothes, and everything they could possibly need. You can donate toward this event by using this link, and then designating your to the Back-to-School event.

Our praise all goes to God, and our prayer is that He will continue to lead people back to Him as we try to overflow His love from our lives!

SHAPE & Thursdays

We kicked off our series called SHAPE yesterday by reminding everyone that we've been equipped with a gift that needs to be used for God's glory! The focus yesterday was on "Spiritual Gifts." I'd encourage you to take an intentional step in the process of discovering and using your gift by going to this page and taking the spiritual gift survey... Find your spiritual gift

Also, here's an opportunity to begin serving and using your gift to lead others toward Christ with overflowing love. Overflow Thursdays begin this Thursday! I hope to see you there. All the info is on this page... Overflow Thursdays

Here's a quote from someone within our church that's excited about what we're doing as a church...
"It's time to stop talking and start acting! I'm so excited for our church to start taking steps to interact with the lost in our community and meet real needs. I can't wait to get to hear the stories of the people in the community and help to relate to them and through our common struggles... introduce them to Jesus!

Our family will be excited to participate and I encourage everyone else to do so also. Remember, you don't have to be an "established Christian" or know it all to show the love of Christ to others. Each of us should come as authentic, flawed, messed up people who love the Lord. So I encourage everyone to come as you are... because God created YOU uniquely! And you may be the only one who can reach a certain person. So get out there... make friends... build relationships... and be yourself!"
