Monday Reflections

Just had my first Father's Day yesterday... It's such a blessing to be a dad, but each day I am more humbled by the responsibility that's before me.

Last night was a great night with The Overflow... Justin challenged our typical view of God and urged us to pray to God in a way that reflects His greatness and not our perception of Him! We also had 29 people, which was a new high attendance for the second week in a row.

Two things I know for sure...
1) We can't out give God, but we should give Him everything we have!
2) His dreams for our church will always be greater than ours, so we should never stop begging Him for His vision and power!

During our group discussions last night, I challenged our singles with these two things...
1) When was the last time you prayed for God to bring an unbeliever across your path?
I'm praying that God does great things through our church, but I'm confident God doesn't want just another "church" full of sheep from other churches. He wants a church that's full of people who have been changed by Him! After all, that's the vision He's given us: Allowing God's love to overflow from our lives so that Christ is exalted and LIVES ARE CHANGED!

2) Your service for God does not equal intimacy with God. (per Perry Noble)
One of our group members reflected on that statement like this: "If you were a parent who only gave your kid everything they wanted, that doesn't mean you have a relationship with them!" God doesn't just want our acts of service, He wants a relationship with us. However, the amazing thing is that He doesn't NEED this relationship, yet He still DESIRES to have it. WOW!

Can't wait to get out and serve this week with The Overflow... Passing out free bottles of water on the UT campus and taking some packed out gift boxes to all the staff at Children's Hospital. Everyone really chipped in last night and brought some great things to fill these boxes. Praying that Jesus will be lifted up and lives are changed as His love overflow's from our lives!

  1. Justin needs to start a blog and include some of the cool stuff coming out of our group lol. I can't wait to get out in the community and serve. I'm really looking forward to watching you pull weeds.
