Do you ever feel like your life is a constant "work in progress?" You know, like when you accomplish one thing only to quickly realize the next task or goal is going to take you twice as long as the previous? Or maybe you feel like life is this horrible dance of one step forward and two steps back? In my own life, I'm realizing more and more how much I need God. The closer I get to Him the more I realize the wickedness of my heart. I would even go as far as to say that if you aren't continually feeling the urge to become more like Christ, then you are most likely farther away from Him than you realize.
Honestly, my life has been fairly comfortable for the past few years, but God has moved me out of my comfort zone and onto the edge where faith and reality collide. As our church is preparing for the launch of our worship experiences in about two months, it's very tempting to just get completely overwhelmed by all the work that is still in progress. It often feels like I'm making no progress, and the "to-do" list isn't shrinking. Nevertheless, God keeps calming me back down with His Word. Specifically, He brings me back to Philippians 1:6. In this passage, Paul says, "I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ."
Over the next few days, I'm going to breakdown this verse and hopefully help us all realize the difference between authentic spiritual growth and casual religious routine. For now, hold on to this thought... God didn't bring you where you are to watch you fall on your face! Even when you've won the battle only to realize there's a war standing right in front of you, just remember God is not surprised, and His plans in your life will be fulfilled!
