Reflections and Recap

We had an amazing worship experience yesterday! Even with losing one hour of sleep thanks to the time change, we had our third highest attendance so far, but even more importantly, God's Spirit was moving and people were finding peace in Jesus Christ.

Also, we had a female vocalist in our band for the first-time. Alisha is an amazing addition. In all honesty, she is a great example of what it means to embrace the vision of The Overflow. We take very serious the people we put on stage to lead our church in worship. Alisha began helping with our setup each Sunday morning knowing it would take a while before we were ready to work her into the band. She served with humility and excellence each week. As a result, we were able to get to know her, she was able to get to know us, and she was better prepared to help lead our church in worship this past Sunday because she took time to embrace the vision of The Overflow. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait 2 weeks until she's back from spring break to have her sing again.

At the same time, THANKS to all of our volunteers who are committed to leading people toward Christ through our worship experiences each Sunday!

Part 4 of our Rebellion series focused on anger. Anger is one of the many tools the devil will use to distract us from our calling. Anger in itself is not a sin, but we must make sure we quickly deal with our issues so that our frustrations don't impact the work God is doing within and through us.

Worship set was...
-God is Alive (Steve Fee)
-Freedom is Here (Hillsong)
-Desert Song (Hillsong)
-Came to My Rescue (Hillsong)

Ephesians 2:3-10

Turn your anger into a passion that will bring peace to frustrated people.

-The world says deal with your anger in whatever way is best for you. We should win at all costs, always land the final blow, and do whatever it takes to make our position known. However, Jesus has called us to be peacemakers. The Bible teaches that we should allow Jesus to bring His peace into our lives so that we will take all the energy and thoughts we once put toward our anger and use it to bring peace to people without Christ.

Redirect Your Anger
- Instead of using your energy and emotions to be angry about things that probably don't matter in the long run, we need to redirect this energy and emotion toward being peacemakers for Christ. People need to know about the peace that surpasses all understanding and until those of us who have this peace become intentional peacemakers, the people around us will continue to be frustrated.

Discover Peace for Yourself
-It's hard to bring peace to others if you aren't first at peace yourself. As followers of Christ, we can't forget the lack of peace we had before we met Christ. At the same time, we need to make sure we are submitting to Christ in all areas of our lives, even those that we don't understand and the ones that often make us angry.
