Monday Reflections

I had the honor of preaching at One Life Church in Powell yesterday, and I really enjoyed my time there. I'm so amazed at what God is doing through that church. I met several first time guests there yesterday who were so glad that they made the choice to come to OneLife. I urged them to come back and get involved in what God is doing through this church. We (The Overflow) are so thankful to OneLife for all the support they are giving to us, and we're praying that God continues to pour out His blessings on this church and Pastor Rodney!

Being at OneLife yesterday lead me to this thought...I'm so glad that God has connected us to some people in Knoxville who understand that it's about God's Kingdom, not our kingdoms. I know of very few churches who would invite a pastor from across town to preach at their church. I know of very few churches who OPENLY and OBVIOUSLY communicate their regular support of each other! I love what God is doing through the new churches in this city, and I'm praying that God would bring more of our established churches to embrace this vision of building His kingdom together!

We spent yesterday evening in Kingston with our family so we could watch the fireworks. At first, we didn't know if Kaden would stay awake until 9:45pm, but not only was he still awake, but he loved the fireworks. He was watching every single one, pointing, and jumping up and down. It was really great to spend some time with the people in my family I don't get to see very often.

I finished In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson this last week, and it's a must read for everyone who truly wants to make a difference with their life. If you are content with the status quo and simply going through the motions, then don't waste your time or money. However, if you truly want to become the person God wants you to be and you're willing to embrace the challenges that come your way, then get this book, read it, and apply it to your life! I also suggest reading through Numbers 13 and 14 as you read this book. WOW! God really spoke to me this past week on working through and pursuing our obstacles with God's vision! If more church leaders, myself included, would be willing embrace difficulty in order to advance the gospel we'd see more people coming to Jesus and fewer churches declining and existing in a stagnant state of mind!
