Tuesday Transformation

Perhaps the most often overlooked commandment is the command to observe the Sabbath. Basically, this is God's command for us to REST! Now, that's something we would all admit that we need, yet we often find ourselves so busy that rest takes the back seat to everything else. Could it be that our lack of rest is the reason we are so overwhelmed with everything that's on our plates?

I heard a pastor once say, "People who don't work are lazy. People who don't rest are disobedient." WOW! Even in these early stages of planting a church, it's easy to feel like I have to constantly be doing something, but here's something that I'm learning... While I know I have a big responsibility in leading our launch team to begin this church, God loves this process more than me. The church is most dependent upon Him first and foremost. For me to not rest is basically saying to God, "I'll take care of this and everything depends upon me getting this done." Don't think I'm trying to pass off my responsibility, but I just think there must be a proper balance.

So when was the last time you took time to rest? If you are a church leader, do you lead your church as if EVERYTHING in your church is dependent upon you? Are you so busy with "church" stuff that your family never gets your best? Does your job take so much of your time and energy that your family is connecting less and less as time goes by? Maybe you've never thought about these things or maybe it's just been a while since you've taken time to rest. Plan for rest, take time to rest, and enjoy the blessings of walking with God and living in the joy that comes from a HEALTHY relationship with Him!
