Family and Football Friday

Kaden is walking EVERYWHERE, all the time. He's figured out how to just get up and start walking. It's so much fun, but it's definitely still strange to see him walking. Now, I just wish I could translate all of his mumbles into English :) I'd love to know what's going on inside his head!

Football season started off well for UT, but just as I was talking to our group Sunday night about staying in touch with reality, as UT football fans, we have to stay in touch with reality and remember that we played UT-Martin. Yes, there were some positives that happened last Saturday, but we have to keep it in perspective. However, this week we'll gain a true perspective on the current state of the team. Here are 2 things I'll be watching for tomorrow...

1) The Speed.
The UT defense looked so fast last week, but I'm wondering how well our speed will match up with a much faster opponent in Oregon. Especially with us being so young in so many positions, I hope they can adjust to what will be a dramatically different tempo against the Ducks.

2) Passing Game.
Simms was hit hard a few more times last week than I would've liked considering they were playing UT-Martin. Will he have enough time to make good decisions against a much faster and talented defense? Also, will the young WRs step up? With Jones out and Moore banged up, the young guys must make some big plays sooner than expected.

PREDICTION: Oregon 27 - UT 13

In connection with these thoughts on gaining a more accurate perception of the UT football team, I just want to encourage you to gain a more accurate perception of your relationship with God by using Jesus as your measuring tool, not other people. We'll always find people who are doing "better" and "worse" than us, but ultimately that doesn't matter because we aren't following other people. How well are you following Jesus? Gain some perspective by reading how He lived and then apply His example to your life!
