Tuesday Transformation

We are making some updates to the blog and preparing to launch our official website, so my posts on here may be slow for the next few weeks, but I'll do my best to keep up.

I was at 2 different conferences last week, and God really used both experiences to further clarify our vision in addition to challenging me as a leader to believe God for greatness. Here's something I'm learning more and more... Every leader must value the opportunity to learn from others. I'm thankful our launch team gave me the privilege to do that last week. Any leader who thinks they don't have time to learn from others or that they pretty much already know everything is in a very dangerous position. The more I learn, the more I realize how much I still need to learn.

Here's a thought for today...

Bigger and better. Isn't that the focal point of the American dream? We are told to work hard so we can buy bigger houses, better cars, and better clothes; if we fall short of these goals, we are apparently not working hard enough to have bigger and better. Unfortunately, this has also become the focal point within many churches as well. We say... "Let's buy better stuff so we can have bigger crowds." or "If we have bigger buildings we can do ministry better." The thing that amazes me is that Christianity is growing the fastest in places around the world where the buildings are small (if they even exist) and the stuff/things isn't much more than a copy of the Bible.

My prayer is that in our personal lives and in our churches we would remember that when bigger and better becomes our motivation, our best is often going towards the wrong things. For example, in our families, when we focus on bigger and better, we often work longer hours and neglect the important things that will keep our families together like dinners at the table and quality time spent together. In our churches, a focus on bigger and better leads to less prayer and dependence upon the Spirit of God. There's nothing wrong with having nice things and aspiring to be successful, but let's not sacrifice what's best for something that's only better!
