"It" Doesn't Go Away Naturally

I don't know what "it" may be for you today. Perhaps "it" is that job you still can't seem to find. Maybe "it" is that relationship that is about to fall apart. "It" could be that disappointing report you just received from the doctor. If you are on our launch team, your "it" may be simply your commitment and focus as we plant this church. I don't know what your "it" is, but I do know that God is not surprised by your "it," and He wants you to give your "it" to Him!

You should read Mark 9:14-29 before you read the rest of this blog. You will notice at the end of this passage, Jesus says, "This kind (or your "it" for our purposes) cannot come out by anything but prayer." When "it" invades our lives or when "it" requires us to do the abnormal, we can't simply sit back and do nothing. At the same time, we can't just do everything without having any clear direction.

One of the greatest life-principles God has taught me in my life so far is the concept of PRAY & PURSUE. (This concept will be a message series in the first year of The Overflow, so this is basically a preview)

In this passage, you probably noticed the men pursued the demon ("it"). Taking action wasn't their problem. Apparently, the motivation or the source of their action was the issue. Jesus reminded them that some demons (or your "it") can't be fixed by natural reactions. Some of the demons that you are facing will not go away until you have passionately prayed and intentionally pursued God's direction!

Beginning next Monday, I'll share 5 key thoughts over the next week or so that will help you better understand this concept of PRAY & PURSUE. For now, identify your "it." For some of you, this is obvious, so you just need to admit that your "it" is actually there.

Get ready, your "it" is going down! I'll be praying for you even though I have no idea who may be reading this blog and preparing to find victory from their "it."
