Uncomfortable Prayers

When was the last time you felt uncomfortable? You know, like when you were watching a UT football game and they were about to pull the big upset only to realize there were too many men on the field? That moment ripped my heart out. I truly felt uncomfortable because I had believed in something that didn't become a reality. I think sometimes we have this approach with prayer. While we want to pray for something, it makes us uncomfortable because we don't really believe God actually cares about our prayers.

Through this discussion on prayer, we've looked at the importance of praying for the right things and praying specifically. Today, I want to push you to take an immediate action step. In connection with what we've already discussed, what do you need to commit to prayer? What having you been holding back from God. Chances are, if you pray for this specific thing, it will make you uncomfortable because it is so great. Just remember, God won't disappoint. He may answer your prayer just like you pray it or He may have another plan that will exceed your original request.

Step into the power of God and pray something that's both in line with Scripture and so big/important that it will require God to come through or it won't happen!

Maybe this prayer needs to be focused on...

-Your "it" that I talked about last week. Quit allowing this one thing to overtake your life. God intends for you to experience so much more!

-Receiving clarity on a decision you have to make.

-Having the courage and discipline to make the needed changes in your life.

-Trusting that God will provide the resources and opportunities that will provide money to pay the bills.

-Surrendering your life to Jesus Christ for the first time or living for Him on a more consistent basis.

Go ahead! Take that step. Pray a prayer that makes you uncomfortable. Show God you believe in Him. Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
