Random Lessons

I think I've learned more random lessons over the past year than I have in the rest of my life combined. This is probably due to the fact that I'm now a dad, and I fully believe God uses our experiences as parents to teach us more about Him and His love for us. Nevertheless, I fully believe God is always teaching, always revealing, and always drawing us closer to Him.

So yesterday I was drinking orange juice and as I drank the final few drops of juice, I was disappointed to find that the bottom of my cup was a little dirty (Thank You to the dishwasher). This kind of ruined my drink because I immediately began to wonder just how dirty the glass was. Was this the only spec or were there many more that are now floating through my body? I obviously don't have the answer to those questions, but in this random moment God said to me...

If you don't live your life in such a way that is totally dependent on me and my direction, you'll one day discover that at the end of your journey you weren't drinking what you thought you were drinking.

For anyone who reads this post, I just want to encourage you to live according to God's direction. Yes, it is counter-cultural. No, it is not always the popular or easy thing to do. Yes, it will stretch you in ways you've never been stretched before. But seriously. Do you really think God left us here on this earth for us to simply live the American dream? Is that the best plan you think God can come up with? If so, I'd say your God is too small, and you haven't met the same God I have.

Don't drink the juice the world is pouring because I can promise you it will leave you with more questions than answers at the end of your day!
