You Can't Pickup Water With Your Fingers

Kaden loves to drink water, and I'm so proud of that. He's trying to be like his daddy and that gets me excited. The other day he decided he wanted some water when he saw me drinking some, so we gave him a glass of water. He's at that point where he can drink from a cup without a lid, but it's also guaranteed that at some point he's going to spill some, if not most of it. He's definitely making progress though.

Well, this time was no different than any other. He started out doing well, but the more he drank, the higher up he had to turn the glass, and sure enough, the rest of the water went all over him and the carpet. We then did our usual "Uh-oh" but this time he apparently felt bad for spilling the water. He quickly began trying to pickup the water with his fingers and place it back in the cup, kind of like he would do if he dropped food or something more solid. Obviously, he wasn't having much luck, but in this moment, God taught me a valuable lesson...

Sometimes in life we drop the cup. We spill the water everywhere. We make a mess, and the only person we can blame is ourselves. However, we aren't capable of cleaning up our own mess. Our efforts to fix our situations and bad decisions often lead to frustration and more chaos. It's like trying to pick up water with our fingers; we just can't do it.

This is where God comes in because He is more than capable. He can take our mess and turn it into a miracle. He loves to take imperfect people and use them to do what most would consider impossible. I don't care how far you fallen or how big of a mess you've made. God is more than capable of stepping into your situation and showing you just how amazing he is. All you have to do is stop trying to pick up the water (your mess) by yourself!
