When Your Way Isn't Working

It's a hard thing for any of us to admit that we've missed the mark. Especially for guys, we are notorious for our unwillingness to admit to anything. We don't like to ask for directions, ask for help, or to admit that we made a wrong decision. However, as I look back at some of the things I've experienced, I've realized that I usually learn the most when I'm willing to embrace the fact that I may not have everything together.

If we aren't careful, life will keep us in a constant cycle of disappointment and frustration. We'll wonder about the meaning of life and whether or not the madness will end. I'm sure you are familiar with the definition of insanity... Doing the same things over and over yet hoping to see a different result. When we realize and admit that our way isn't always the best way, then I believe we'll begin to take steps away from insanity and toward sanity.

Here's the point I'm trying to make... We've never been promised a pain-free, worry-free, everyday is a great day type of life. Even as followers of Christ, we are sadly mistaken if this is the impression of Christianity that we have. Therefore, we all need to realize that perhaps the One who created not only us but also this universe, may have a better solution for making it through this life. Honestly, He doesn't just want us to make it through this life; He wants us to embrace it to the fullest.

I don't care to admit that I still don't and probably never will fully understand what this looks like. There are days I feel isolated and unfulfilled. Other days leave me angry and brokenhearted. Nevertheless, one thing remains consistent and that's God. As I strive to make the most of this life, I'm just praying that He will continue to help me better understand what it means to TRULY live each day with Him!
