Monday Morning Reflections & Recap

Each week, I'll take a few minutes on Monday to recap and reflect on our previous worship experience, so I hope these posts will help you start your week off with passion and excitement to lead people towards Christ with overflowing love.

REFLECTIONS
I don't think words can describe what we experienced yesterday. Ever since God began to assemble this team that would start The Overflow, I knew He was going to do something great. As the months progressed, our team continued to grow, new doors opened, and He provided every resource that we needed.

However, I guess it was Friday afternoon when I "REALLY" sensed God was up to something special for our launch service. I had two news channels contact me about featuring us on the news Sunday evening. Of course I was thrilled about the free publicity, but I also became really curious about what God was going to do. I fully believe that God intervenes in unique ways, so when the news channels wanted to come, I knew God was preparing us for something special.

Then, I was humbled. I was humbled because there are so many great and new churches around Knoxville that are doing somewhat similar things to what we are doing, and I couldn't figure out why God opened these doors for us. I may never have the answer to this question, but I'm so thankful for the churches who have already paved the way for churches like The Overflow to get started.

As I was driving over to the school yesterday morning, God really broke my heart. I'll go ahead and admit that I cried. As I was driving into South Knoxville and coming across James White Parkway with the city all around me, God brought tears to my eyes. He told me HE would not fail, and that HE would take this city for His glory!

Our worship experience once again brought me to tears and stirred my emotions. Yes, the 166 people were more than I expected. Yes, everything seemed to flow really smooth, but I was so awestruck by the fact that God has done so much already and we're only just beginning. Yesterday was more confirmation that God is definitely with us. This doesn't mean things will always be easy. This doesn't even mean we'll have 166 or more people again next week, but it does mean that God is going to do awesome things through The Overflow!

To sum it up, I heard that one of our launch team members said, "What have we gotten ourselves into?" They obviously said this with joy and excitement, but I think we all believe God is going to do great things that are far beyond anything we can comprehend.

RECAP
We gave back 50% of our offering this past Sunday to South-Doyle Middle. We were honored to have Principal Harrel and other staff members with us yesterday. It was amazing to hear her openly speak of her love for God and support of our church. We're excited about giving them a check for $2,100 later this week.

Worship set was...
-God of this City
-Solution
-Our God is Greater
-Your Love Never Fails
-You Alone Can Rescue

Message...
KNOWN. LOVED. UNLEASHED.
You can watch the video of the message on our website by Tuesday evening.
John 4:4-30, 39-42
Jesus knows me, yet He loves me enough to unleash me from my past decisions and present situations.

-Don't think your situation is too messy for God. Jesus won't from you; He will run to you!

-God often works through our situations to bring us back to Him. He came to set the sinners free, not condemn them for their failures. As a church, we must follow His example and make sure everything we do is motivated by love.

-Your response to Jesus will determine whether or not you are unleashed. He already knows and loves you, and He's not running from you, but it's up to you to give up control of your life and be unleashed from your past decisions and present situation.
