Reflections and Recap

Our "Authentic Community" series ended yesterday, and we're really excited about some of the things that are starting to develop within The Overflow. Some of the highlights from Sunday were...

-Over 50 people came together for a pancake brunch before our worship experience
-We'll have somewhere around 50-60% of our average worship attendance connected to an Overflow Group when they begin the week of April 10
-I was able to take a week off, and Justin Breeden, our Groups Pastor, did an amazing job with the message by reminding us about the importance of experiencing group based authentic community.
-Several new volunteers served for the first-time on Sunday. It's so exciting to see people willing to get involved!

Worship set was...
-Rise and Sing (Steve Fee)
-Blessed Be Your Name
-Beautiful Jesus (Kristian Stanfill)
-Revelation Song

All of us need community. Jesus taught us this principal by modeling the importance of community throughout His life. He also demonstrated that community is for everyone regardless of their past decisions or present situations. As Jesus assembled His "community group," He didn't pick the most religious or the most popular, so we should never think that experiencing true community is out of reach.

At the same time, the only way we will ever reach our maximum potential in Christ is through community. We weren't made to go through life in isolation. If Jesus took time to do life with other people, how much more of a priority should authentic community be for us?
